Studies done on consumption of cows milk

One of my value customer brought this video to my attention. Is milk necessarily good for our bones? Channel 8 news talks about it.

"Drinking cows milk increases the risk of osteoporosis and increases occurrence of death"

I have learned from Dr Chen Jau Fei through the Science of Nutritional Immunology, that cows milk is not the only source of protein and calcium for us. We can take wholesome plant base Soy for protein and calcium.

If you are worried that soy being unsuitable for children or adult due to the presence of phytoestrogens, you can read more below.

Here are blogs on cows milk and alternative source of protein and calcium. http://thewholesomefood.blogspot.sg/search/label/milk

We are very proud to have Dr Chen Jau Fei to share her knowledge on science of Nutritional Immunology and explained on the nutrition misconceptions. Do take this opportunity to learn more from the experts and contact me at 8332 3173 for more information and to reserve your tickets.

What NI food do I give to my kids when they have coughing and phlegm?

The common cold and influenza are untreatable with medication because they are caused by viruses. Cold medication may help to suppress some symptoms but cannot stop viruses from spreading freely within our body. Cold medicines do not cure the cold but only put a temporary stop to the symptoms, preventing the body from expelling the virus. Cold medicines do not cure the cold, but only put a temporary stop to the symptoms, preventing the body from expelling the virus.
Productive coughs should not be suppressed by cough medications. Furthermore, indiscriminate use of cough medicine can lead to addiction.

Are Vitamin Supplements Good or Bad? Do vitamin supplements prevent diseases?

I used to buy vitamin supplements for my children with the intention to strengthen their immune system. After being introduce to wholesome plant food, I started to research further on the ingredients on vitamin bottles and compared to ingredients on formulated wholesome plant food based on the science of Nutritional Immunology. Now, I switch my family to wholesome plant food.

Vitamins can be chemical vitamin or extracted vitamin.

Chemical Vitamins
Chemical vitamins includes nutrients completely manufactured in a lab with the molecular structure identical to the same nutrients occurring in nature. Manufacturers often prefer this process because of the cost and scarcity of natural resources. Most standard vitamin supplements on the market today are this type.

An example here would be vitamin C. Most vitamin C currently manufactured is synthetic. Vitamin C is a weak acid. Many supplements use salt forms (sodium ascorbate, calcium ascorbate, magnesium ascorbate) to decrease acidity. The most popular form of synthetic vitamin C is ascorbic acid.

Extracted Vitamins
Second type of vitamin are extracted vitamin. These include nutrients from vegetable, animal or mineral sources. But before making it into the supplement bottle, they undergo significant processing and refining. Examples include vitamin D from fish liver oils, vitamin E from vegetable oils, and natural beta-carotene.

Do vitamin supplements prevent diseases?
Research have found that vitamin will only help if people do not have enough nutrient from food. Vitamin supplements don’t promote health or prevent cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Data indicates that vitamin supplements can actually lead to more cancer (specifically breast and prostate), cardiovascular disease, kidney damage (in those with diabetes), and fractures, while not helping prevent infections and sick days.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle
Vitamins do not help us much these days because people do not suffer from insufficient nutrient in their body. Today, people suffer diseases due to unhealthy lifestyle and improper diet. In order to achieve a healthy lifestyle, we have to practice the following

1) Ensure sufficient sleep and rest - During our sleep, our body cells go into the process of eliminating toxic substances and at the same time repair damaged cells. Hence, it is important to have sufficient sleep and rest.

2) Regular exercise - Walking and deep breathing is an excellent exercise for people of all ages. Do try to do some form of walking as and when your schedule permits.

3) Maintain stable emotions - Be happy and think positively all the time. When we are stressed, our body will secrete hormones called corticosteroid, which will suppress our immune system by up to 80%.

4) Take balanced nutrition - The first three items are fairly straightforward and easy to maintain, but the fourth item requires wisdom, knowledge and discipline to discern and decide on the food that is most beneficial for the body.

If you happen to be in Singapore, you are invited to listen to a health talk by Dr Chen Jau Fei - World renowned Nutritional Immunologist on 26th July 2015 to learn about does multi-vitamins help to prolong life? Is there any benefits from calcium pills and glucosamine pills?

Is your Omega 3 from safe source?

I knew of many parents who gives fish oil to their kids thinking that the fish oil's omega 3 will be good for their brain.

Find out more from the below article and make an informed choice.

Under the science of Nutritional Immunology, wholesome plant foods provide omega-3 fatty acids without increasing cholesterol intake or depleting vitamin E, while containing healthful antioxidants, phytochemicals and polysaccharides. However, even among plant foods, there are those that are better sources of omega-3. There are several criteria for determining good plant sources of omega-3.

Choose plant foods that contain more omega-3 than omega-6 to make up for high levels of omega-6 elsewhere in one's diet. These include chia seed and kiwi fruit seed. It is also useful to note that wholesome plant foods such as walnuts contain omega-3, they have higher levels of omega-6.

How do you choose cooking oil?

Do we know what is the best oil to use for our daily diet? I have been confused which is the best oil to buy when I am doing shopping at the supermarket. There are so many types of oil in the market. I usually spend a long time reading at the ingredients of the oil to decide which cooking oil is the best.

After doing research on cooking oil, I learn that there are two important points that you should know when choosing healthy cooking oil.

1) Omega 6 : Omega 3 ratio

Cooking oil is the primary source of omega-6 fatty acids in modern society. This is due to the large amount of oil in the modern diet, and also because of the general misconception that vegetable oils are healthy and can thus be consumed in any amount. As a result, the ratio of omega-6:omega-3 ratio consumed can often be as high as 30:1.

2) Smoke Point

A smoke point is the temperature at which cooking oil starts to smoke. Each type of cooking oil has a smoke point. Once the temperature of the oil's smoke point is reached, the oil starts to break down and smoke, producing toxic, or even carcinogenic, substances.

Tips for Selecting Healthy Cooking Oils

Cooking Oil
Smoke Point (°C)
Omega-6:Omega-3
Macadamia Oil
210
1:1
Perilla Seed Oil
202-250
1:4
Kiwi Fruit Seed Oil
160
1:4
Soybean Oil
160
7.1:1
Olive Oil
160
12.8:1
Tea Seed Oil
252
31.8:1
Sunflower Oil
107
39.4:1
Corn Oil
160
46.1:1
Sesame Oil
177
137:1
Peanut Oil
160
32:0

Based on the above findings, Macademia oil is a better option for high heat baking, stir frying, deep frying and high heat cooking.

I start to use E Excel Macademia oil whenever using my oven for high heat baking and stir frying. It is formulated using 95.5% macadamia oil and 4.5% perilla seed oil, which has a smoke point of 210oC and has much higher Omega 3 than Omega 6.

Mild in flavor, it is ideal for stir-frying, deep-frying, grilling, roasting and baking.

Taking Glucosamine can cause diabetes

The human body can produce glucosamine (An amino sugar) from glucose and glutamine (an amino acid). As the body ages, it needs more antioxidants to help maintain healthy cell regeneration. A plant base diet rich in glutamine and antioxidants provides the body with material to stimulate glucosamine production and help prevent osteoarthritis.

Common glucosamine supplements are extracted from chitin a material present in the shells of crabs, lobsters and shrimp. In order to meet the market demand, 80% of the shellfish are farmed in China. To ensure profitability and secure high economic returns, some farmers use antibiotics and growth hormones during cultivation. These chemicals are harmful to humans. In general, animal- derived glucosamine supplements have many hidden danger.

The side effect of glucosamine include insulin resistance. Glucosamine is 10 times more potent than regular glucose in causing insulin resistance in animals. It activates a metabolic pathway in the body that leads to the deterioration of insulin-producing cells in the pancreas and causes insulin resistance, two factors associated with diabetes. High doses or prolonged use of glucosamine can cause death of pancreatic cells and increase the risk of developing diabetes.

Nutritional Immunology on Joint Care
The health benefits by wholesome plant foods far surpass any manmade nutrient. Wholesome plant food are the safest source that the body needs for healing, repair and maintenance.

Nutritional Immunology advocates eating plant foods that can help the body produce collagen as lack of collagen in our body will cause joint degeneration and joint pain. Oxyginberry ingredients are rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals to help the body produce collagen.

Nutritional Immunology advocates eating plant foods rich in glutamine, manganese and antioxidants to stimulate the human body’s natural production of glucosamine. Nutritional Immunology products are called G-ART. G-ART contain (brown algae, spinach, parsley, ginger, Alfafa and cactus)

Is cow's milk good for us?

Is cow's milk really good for us? Do you think cow's milk is for human consumption?

Have you ever ponder about this question before?

Since young, we have been told about the goodness of dairy product, i.e. excellent sources of protein and calcium.

So I always thought that milk is the only good source for protein and calcium, that's why I consumed pregnancy milk powder during my first pregnancy.

However, when I realised that my second son has cow's milk protein allergy I started doing some research on this topic.

Now, let us start from: Is milk really a good source for calcium?

Do you know that USA has a much high percentage of people getting osteoporosis as compared to Japan? Just simply look at the diet of normal North Americans, their diet is rich in dairy products such as milk, cheese, etc. But why are the North Americans still have a high percentage of osteoporosis patients despite their dairy rich diet?

Why most of the world does not eat dairy products and do not have bone problems and calcium deficiency?

There must be something terribly wrong with the message that milk (and milk products) will give us healthy bones.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Debunking The Milk Myth: Why Milk Is Bad For You And Your Bones

Milk depletes the calcium from your bones

The milk myth has spread around the world based on the flawed belief that this protein and calcium-rich drink is essential to support good overall health and bone health in particular at any age. It is easy to understand that the confusion about milk’s imaginary benefits stems from the fact that it contains calcium – around 300 mg per cup.

But many scientific studies have shown an assortment of detrimental health effects directly linked to milk consumption. And the most surprising link is that not only do we barely absorb the calcium in cow’s milk (especially if pasteurized), but to make matters worse, it actually increases calcium loss from the bones.

What an irony this is!

Here’s how it happens. Like all animal protein, milk acidifies the body pH which in turn triggers a biological correction. You see, calcium is an excellent acid neutralizer and the biggest storage of calcium in the body is – you guessed it… in the bones. So the very same calcium that our bones need to stay strong is utilized to neutralize the acidifying effect of milk. Once calcium is pulled out of the bones, it leaves the body via the urine, so that the surprising net result after this is an actual calcium deficit.

Knowing this, you’ll understand why statistics show that countries with the lowest consumption of dairy products also have the lowest fracture incidence in their population (there’s more on this later).
But the sad truth is that most mainstream health practitioners ignore these proven facts. I was brought up thinking drinking milk is good, until I came to know more from Nutritional Immunology.

What is the most important meal of the day? What is a healthy breakfast?

During my flight back to my hometown, I came across an article on "Breakfast around the world" and "What is the most important meal of the day". As I would like my family to eat healthy, I have changed their diet a little since last year.

We no longer have bread, eggs and pancakes everyday. Instead we will include more fruits, soy and high fiber food in our morning breakfast.

During the Chinese New Year, our family will do a lot of visiting to relatives house and there are open house and constant eating. We have food overload during this trip. Therefore, during this trip I packed Everstay D, Vegecolour and Oxyginberry for my breakfast.

Everstay D contains soybean, psyillum husk and wheat bran which are high in dietary fiber. Soybean is a plant protein that is high in dietary fiber and help in digestion. During my trip, Everstay-D is able to provide me the convenience of having enough fiber in my diet and I do not have to worry about constipation due to lack of fiber.

Vegecolour contains 28 types of dried freeze vegetables. It saves my cleaning and cooking time and I don't have to worry about pesticide residue. Here are details on Vegecolour and Everstay-D.

Oxyginberry contains cactus, cactus fruit, ginseng berry, seaweed, rose and grape seed. They are the best food to kickstart my day and nourish the immune system.  What is Oxyginberry and many have benefited from this drink.

I had noticed that I lose weight and have better energy when I eat a healthy breakfast.

I started my Chinese New Year with  Everstay D and Vege Color breakfast. They are low in calories, high in dietary fiber, no oil or sugar and no cholesterol.

The above article is extracted from E Excel Magazine.

_________________________________________________________________________________

The below article is extracted from  Magazine by FireFly. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a healthy breakfast is linked to increase performance and concentration at both work and school. A healthy breakfast can help with strength and physical endurance. Breakfast is linked to lower cholesterol levels and can help with weight control.

It was very interesting to read this article on "Breakfast around the world"  Magazine by FireFly. The breakfast in this articles are also luxury food that we cannot afford to eat daily. The foods are either fried, oily, sliced meat, eggs, butter, sandwiches that are either high in fat, cholesterol and calories. Eating too much oily, and cholesterol food can cause plague to build up in arteries which can lead to heart disease. The processed meat like ham, bacon and sausages has been linked to an increased risk of cancer.

Contact me to know more about a healthy lose weight method just by  switching to a healthy breakfast.

What causes constipation?

Constipation is a common condition that affects people of all ages. It can mean that you're not passing stools regularly or you're unable to completely empty your bowel.

Constipation can also cause your stools to be hard and lumpy, as well as unusually large or small.

The severity of constipation varies from person to person. Many people only experience constipation for a short time, but for others, constipation can be a long-term (chronic) condition that causes significant pain and discomfort and affects quality of life.

What causes Constipation?

Watch the video clip to understand what causes constipation.

How do you determined if a person have constipation?

1. Are we always going toilet the same time every day? If yes, it means that we have enough fibers

2. Are we always going toilet without bringing gadgets such as ipad, iPhone, magazines? It means that we can  let it go with small effort?

3. Is the toilet free from strong smell after you use the toilet?

If your answer is YES, YES, YES. then it means that you are taking enough fiber.

Fibers and Water are important in our life. We need 25g of fibers to prevent colon cancer. An apple is about 2g of fibers, 25 grams meaning approx. 10 apples!

Do understand how Everstay-D can help to resolve the issue healthily.
