A person's Immunity and Detoxification function determine longevity. Ways to detox.

I read a book on Nutrition. Immunity. Longevity by Dr Jau-Fei Chen, PhD Immunologist. After reading on the topic of Immunity and Waster Removal Ability (Detoxification) Determine Longevity, I decided to share on the detoxification process of our body and how we can detox our body.

The human immune system and its waste removal system work together. The liver, colon, kidneys lungs, lymphatic system and skin all have the ability to expel toxins in the body. However, these organs can become fatigued and cease to function normally if they are overburdened. The toxins will store in fatty tissues when the detoxification process does not function at he optimum level. These symptoms will appear when toxins are accumulated in the body - fatigue, joint pain, muscle aches, dizziness, nausea. edema, skin rashes, swollen glands, irritability, anger, lowered immunity and allergies.

Our body is exposed to environment filled with harmful substances. These include environmental threats such as air and water pollution, radiation, pesticides, antibiotics and drug residues. In additions, chemical substances in personal care products and household products can penetrate the body through the skin, causing toxins to accumulate in the body. Diesel engine exhaust also increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Ways to detox the body. 
1) Include a wide variety of wholesome plant foods. The average person is getting less than the required 8-10 servings of dark vegetables and fruit per day. They contain high amounts of fiber, nutrients that support the function of your bowels, kidneys and liver (3 very critical detox organs). If you struggle to get this many on your plate on a regular basis – the number one daily detox tip is to make a greens smoothie every day. I make green smoothie daily for my 3 kids and 3 adults. Today's recipe are organic kale, organic spinach, cucumber, green apple and chia seed. However, there are also convenience way to detox for busy people who does not have time to make green juice and not able to have sufficient wholesome plant food.


2) Drink at least 2-3 liters of water.  Proper water intake can contribute to clearer skin, properly functioning organs, and a more effective circulatory, respiratory, and digestive system.

3) Be More Active
Avoid being sedentary. Some examples include doing more walking and taking the stairs.
